About the guide
A fan reference built to show its workings
The Kembleford Files is an independent, unofficial project: a searchable companion to the programme, not a broadcaster, rights-holder or substitute for official listings.
Fact, interpretation and absence
Broadcast dates, credits and confirmed locations are factual claims. Themes, starter routes and “watch for” notes are editorial guidance. Missing information means “not yet evidenced here”, never “definitely did not happen”.
The closest reliable record leads
Broadcaster, producer, official venue, rights-holder and original-text records are preferred. Secondary indexes are used for discovery or corroboration and are labelled. A general link is not evidence for unrelated claims.
No affiliate relationship
The project is not operated, endorsed or approved by the BBC, BBC Studios, BritBox, producers, cast, venues or rights-holders. Viewing and visitor links do not earn commission.

What makes a useful correction
Identify the page and wording, propose the correction and supply the closest public source. Each accepted correction should record its date, affected record ID, evidence consulted and resulting change.

A monitored public submission route and response time are not yet available. This is an openly stated limitation, not an invitation to contact private individuals or locations.
Minimal data, respectful locations
The Casebook requires no account and stores episode IDs and status labels only in the current browser. The site does not publish private addresses, private-property access instructions or personal contact details. Homes, schools, active places of worship and private estates receive explicit sensitivity guidance.
Before any contact form or analytics service is added, this page must name the provider, purpose, retention period, processors, cookie behaviour and deletion route.
Designed for more ways of reading
The site provides keyboard navigation, a skip link, visible focus styles, structured headings, labelled controls, descriptive page titles and text labels alongside colour. Reduced-motion and higher-contrast preferences are respected.
No WCAG conformance level is claimed until the deployed site has received a complete accessibility audit. A monitored accessibility contact route is also still required.
Independent, credited and jurisdiction-aware
Father Brown and related programme materials belong to their respective rights holders. Texts, images, maps, quotations and extracts should be credited at point of use with their creator, source and licence or permission basis.
Project Gutenberg’s public-domain status applies in the United States; readers elsewhere must check local copyright rules. The original site design and editorial writing are not presented as ownership of underlying programme material.

Published the current evidence update and added the Google Search verification file at the site root.
Added record-level BBC evidence to 15 episode pages; published evidence states for all 14 character profiles and all 22 researched locations; expanded the books register to 34 entries across three collections; standardised episode research labels.
